Many believers have been taught that the goal of faith is escape, that one day we will simply be lifted out of a broken world and everything hard will be left behind. I understand the longing behind that hope. But when I read the pattern of Scripture, I see something different, and I believe it is the very thing God is emphasizing in this hour. He is not most glorified by taking His people out of the world. He is glorified by keeping them in the middle of it as a sign and a wonder.
Look at Noah. When the flood came and the end of an age arrived, Noah did not leave the earth. The wicked did. Noah stayed, and Noah inherited the earth. He was a sign and a wonder in the middle of a generation that had lost its way, and God preserved him right there in the storm. The point of the ark was not evacuation. The point was preservation for the sake of a new beginning on the same ground.
Consider Israel in Egypt. The worse it became under Pharaoh, the more they multiplied. The pressure did not shrink them. It increased them. God made a distinction between His people and the world around them, and that distinction was visible. When darkness deepened, the light did not flee. It grew brighter, and everyone could see it.
This is what I mean when I say His appearing is happening now. Before He ever comes bodily in the clouds, there is a manifestation of Christ taking place in His people. We are described as a great cloud of witnesses, clouds full of living water. He is being revealed through ordinary men and women who are seated with Him in heavenly places even while they live and work on the earth. Your citizenship is from above. You have already been raised up. You do not have to wait to be transported somewhere to experience heaven, because the kingdom of God is within you.
That truth changes how you carry yourself in a hard season. If your only hope is escape, then every crisis feels like a reason to give up and wait for rescue. But if you understand that you are here on assignment, then the crisis becomes the stage on which the goodness of God is displayed. The world is not looking for perfect people. It is looking for real evidence that God is who He says He is. Your peace in the storm, your provision in a famine, your steadiness when others are unraveling, these are the signs and wonders a watching generation cannot explain.
We are running a season alongside a fallen system, the way David ran alongside Saul before he ever took the throne. The wheat and the tares grow together for a time. That does not mean we are powerless or hidden. It means we are being refined and positioned, learning to rule from a place of peace rather than panic. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, and His people are meant to bring His kingdom to bear right here, right now.
So resist the urge to disappear. Do not spend your days wishing you were somewhere else while your assignment goes unfulfilled. The generation around you needs to see what it looks like to belong to God in the middle of everything that is shaking. They need a Lydia, a Joseph of Arimathea, a person of quiet influence and open heart who blesses a city and does not run from it.
You are not waiting to be taken out. You are being made ready to stand out. Stay in your peace. Stay in your purpose. Be the sign and the wonder that points a lost world back to a faithful God.
