There is one question I cannot stop asking in this season, and I want you to sit with it honestly. Do you have your oil? It comes straight out of the parable of the ten virgins, and I believe it is one of the most important pictures for the hour we are living in. Ten young women went out to meet the bridegroom. All ten carried lamps. All ten were waiting for the same thing. The single difference between the wise and the foolish was oil.
That detail matters, because the foolish were not evil. They were not enemies of the bridegroom. They had lamps, they had a desire to meet him, and they were in the right place at the right time. What they lacked was the one thing that could not be borrowed at the last minute. When the moment came, their light went out, and they were not prepared to go in.
Oil is intimacy. It is the anointing. It is the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit that you build in secret, over time, in the place no one sees. You cannot fake oil, and you cannot borrow it from someone else’s walk with God. A lamp with no oil looks exactly like a lamp full of oil right up until the darkness comes and the light is required. Then everyone can see who paid the price and who did not.
This is why I keep prophesying an awakening rather than only another revival. There will always be revival. There will always be meetings and healings and moments of refreshing, and I thank God for every one of them. But an awakening is deeper. An awakening is when the wise ones who have been asleep on yesterday’s fire finally rise up, trim their lamps, and go where the fresh oil is. Scripture says to awake, to put off slumber, because the truth will set you free. Many believers are sincere and still asleep, content in the outer court, blessing the Lord but never pressing past the veil into real communion.
The bridegroom did not invite the wise virgins to a bigger crowd. He invited them into a room. There is a place behind the veil, a bridal chamber, a secret place that Jesus called your closet. He said when you pray, go into your closet and shut the door, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. That hidden room is where oil is formed. It is not glamorous, and it does not happen on a platform. It happens in the quiet, consistent choice to seek Him when no one is watching.
So how do you get fresh oil? You get alone with God on purpose. You make room in your schedule for the one relationship that everything else depends on. You stop measuring your spiritual life by activity and start measuring it by intimacy. You ask the Holy Spirit to fill your vessel again, and you keep asking until yesterday’s supply is replaced by today’s fresh anointing. God told Samuel to fill his horn with oil again, because a new season required a fresh pouring. The same is true for you.
I believe before this year is out you will see a visible difference between those who have oil and those who only have lamps. Not because God loves one more than the other, but because one paid the price to go deeper and one did not. There is no shame in this word. It is an invitation. The room is open, the oil is available, and the bridegroom is worth every moment of preparation.
So check your vessel today. Do not wait until the light is needed to discover it has gone out. Get the oil now, while there is time to seek Him and find Him, and you will walk into the next dimension ready.
